Siúcra brand ambassador and celebrity Chef Catherine Fulvio yesterday hosted a Christmas baking workshop at Enable Ireland Sandyford. The workshop focused on an interactive festive baking demonstration for 20 adults who use the Sandyford services. The workshop was designed to provide adults with disabilities basic cooking and baking skills, skills which in turn can enable them to have a greater degree of independent living.
Participants enjoyed a fun-filled morning of baking with Catherine, where she showed them how to measure out ingredients and create the perfect cupcake batter, followed by icing and decorating tips. After Catherine’s demonstration, everyone had a chance to get involved by baking and decorating their own festive cupcakes under Catherine’s watchful eye.
Hugh Long, Retail Sales and Marketing Manager of Siúcra commented: “We were delighted to work with the Enable Ireland Sandyford Services and support them in their efforts to help the people who use their services to achieve maximum independence, choice and inclusion in their communities. We had a great morning with Catherine as our host and the service users of Enable Ireland Sandyford, we look forward to hosting more in the near future.”
Jason O’Reilly, Co-ordinator of Enable Ireland Sandyford Services also commented: “Events like this are rare and wonderful. The generosity and approach of both Catherine and Siúcra provided an opportunity for our service users to improve their life skills enabling them to become more independent. The sound of laughter and smells of baking cupcakes will resonate for a long time.”
