Ingredients
1 kg cored apples
170-250 g Siucra or McKinney's Granulated Sugar
70 g water
Juice of 1 1/2 lemons
Instructions
Peel and core the apples and cut them into pieces. Put them in a saucepan with the sugar and pour the water and lemon juice over them.
Bring to a boil over a low heat, skim off any foam and let the apples simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Beat the apples by hand to make a puree.
Pour into warm, sterilised jars and put lids on the jars. Store in a cold place.
Tip!
Because this recipe does not include any preservatives, you should freeze any that is left over. Put the apple puree in small jars so that you can easily take out a small portion at any time.
Tip!
The quantity of sugar in this recipe will depend on how sweet your apples are.
